You can read all of our picks for “Underrated Scene Of The Week” here. This week’s “Underrated Scene” comes from the ongoing fantasy revenge thriller “Again My Life” starring Lee JoonGi, Kim JiEun, and Lee KyungYoung. “Again My Life” is not your typical crusade of good vs. evil but rather a fantastic tale of how one man, Kim HeeWu (played by Lee JoonGi), turns the world upside down to establish rightful order. Timelines are distorted, lives are changed, and the very course of fate is altered. The chosen one must persist, and persist he does. Lee JoonGi’s Kim HeeWu might as well be the K-Drama world’s very own version of The Doctor, and we’re living for his iconic breed of justice.
The scene we’re shining the spotlight on in this article is from episode 3 of the show, where Kim HeeWu finds himself in the enemy’s territory and must choose whether to stick by the morals of his “past” life or move forward with a renewed set of principles that will get the job done. Spurred on by the Grim Reaper’s assertion that Jo TaeSup (played by Lee KyungYoung) can only be defeated by a greater evil, HeeWu chooses the latter. In the middle of a study session with KyuRi (played by Hong BiRa), HeeWu is asked to step out for a special meeting with Choi KangJin (played by Kim JinWoo), who proposes for HeeWu to join the Student Council. With Professors singing his praise left and right, it has become abundantly clear that Kim HeeWu is a force to be reckoned with and a beast that needs to be controlled. HeeWu plays along with humility as KangJin takes him along for an appointment with Prosecutor Jang IlHyeon (played by Kim HyungMook), alumnus of Hankuk University Law School, and Jo TaeSup’s henchman. Jang IlHyeon wastes no time in inviting HeeWu to the “Secret Law Club”, which HeeWu soon realizes is a foolproof way for the alumni (who inevitably go on to occupy significant positions of power) to keep potential threats in check. This is the inner circle that empowers Jo TaeSup, and HeeWu is being offered an all-access pass to the villainous clique. Naturally, he accepts, putting on the obedient act that would impress any hotshot. Finishing up by pouring a drink for Jang IlHyeon, HeeWu seals his position as an insider and thus gets one step closer to taking down his arch-nemesis, Jo TaeSup. From the composition of the sequences to Kim HeeWu’s ever-so-subtle glances of vengeance, everything about this scene evokes palpable tension and excitement. What happens next is, once again, life-altering. Are you watching “Again My Life”? What has been your favourite scene so far? Tell us in the comments down below!
