Update: ‘Little Women’ has now been confirmed to premiere on September 3, 2022.  Cast: Nam JiHyun, Kim GoEun, Wi HaJun, Park JiHu Summary: “Little Women” tells the story of three sisters from a humble family who get involved in a case and bravely face the power politics of the most influential family in the nation. Reasons to watch: Loosely based on the iconic American coming-of-age novel “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott, the K-Drama will spin a similar tale of family, sisterhood, and perseverance through the lens of class struggle in South Korea. Retaining the empowering feminism of the original, the K-Drama is expected to be a modern retelling that will serve as a classic for future generations. With a star-studded cast of actors, this drama is meant to be a masterpiece. Additionally, it will be available for streaming in some regions on Netflix.  

2. “Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist”

Cast: Kim MinJae, Kim HyangGi, Kim SangKyung Summary: Yoo SePoong, a genius who fears needles, meets Seo EunWoo, a widow, and Kye JiHan, a geeky teacher at the strange and beautiful Kyesoo Clinic. This drama tells the story of psychiatrists in the Joseon Dynasty who provide for the sick and send cheerful punches to the bad guys! Reasons to watch: Set in ancient Joseon, the historical dramedy “Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist” is expected to be profoundly healing, both in terms of laughter therapy as well as a deeper significance brought forth by the numerous cases that our trio will encounter. With such colourful characters played by such incredible actors, this K-Drama is set to be a success. It will premiere on August 1, 2022.  

3. “A Model Family”

Cast: Jung Woo, Park HeeSoon, Yoon JinSeo, Park JiYeon, Kim SungO Summary: An ordinary man on the verge of bankruptcy and divorce gets involved with a drug ring and risks losing everything he has ever known. At his lowest point, his family comes together to protect their own. Reasons to watch: Helmed by Director Kim JinWoo and Screenwriter Lee JaeGon, this Netflix original is the crime thriller you’ve been waiting for. Power-packed with a tightly-knit plotline, solid, well-rounded characters played by a stunning cast, and an underdog story we can all root for, “A Model Family” is the perfect K-Drama for fans who enjoy a quick dose of suspense and adrenaline. “A Model Family” premieres on August 12, 2o22, on Netflix.  

4. “If You Wish Upon Me”

Cast: Ji ChangWook, Girls’ Generation’s Choi SooYoung, Sung DongIl, Won JiAn Summary: A touching story of caregivers at a hospice who grant the last wishes of patients nearing the end of their lives. Reasons to watch: Inspired by a real foundation in the Netherlands, “If You Wish Upon Me” is a meditative piece on life, death, and everything in between. It is expected to be a philosophical yet inherently human narrative that will most certainly tug at your heartstrings. With Ji ChangWook, Choi SooYoung, and Sung DongIl leading the drama, we’re sure that it will be one of a kind. “If You Wish Upon Me” premieres on August 10, 2022.  

5. “The Law Cafe”

Cast: Lee SeungGi, Lee SeYoung Summary: A former prosecutor turned building owner Kim JungHo, and a fiery lawyer, Kim YooRi, have been friends since high school. After leaving her job as a hotshot lawyer, she starts a unique business in the building owned by JungHo, dishing out coffee and legal advice. She calls it, “The Law Cafe”. Reasons to watch: Two young people disillusioned by the world find solace in each other and fight crime. Could it get any better? Lee SeungGi returns as a “monster genius” alongside the gorgeous Lee SeYoung, giving us the K-Drama pairing of our dreams. With the perfect friends-to-lovers trope, we cannot wait to see where “The Law Cafe” takes us!
