There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other. So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias. Mica is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from Argentina and is a fan of Park JiHoon. Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more! Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from? Hi! I’m Mica (@mayforwink). I’m MAY from Argentina. 💚💛💖 How and when did you enter the fandom? To be exact, I decided to be MAY (Park JiHoon’s fandom name) on May 9th, 2021 (Yes, May in May haha) but I discovered JiHoon and started watching videos of him and searching for information since March of the same year. How did I join the fandom? Well, I discovered him thanks to a drama from one of his former Wanna One group mates. I didn’t know anything about K-Pop or Korean culture until that time. After that I searched for information, found the group and watched their content. At the same time I watched the dramas they starred in and among them I watched “Love Revolution” drama starring Park JiHoon. I’m not a person who cries with actors’ performances, but with Park JiHoon I cried like a baby, ha. Not only that, I also laughed, I melted because of his sweetness and acting. So I could say that I came to JiHoon because of actor Park JiHoon first. The emotions he conveys makes him a top notch actor. After watching the drama I started to get more interested in him, watched more of his contents and ended up falling in love. What caught me and made me want to become a fan was, besides his talent, sweetness & to see what a good and kind person he is, was and is his big and sincere love for his MAYs, his fans. That love went beyond the screen of my phone to the point that I felt the need to give back to him the same love he gives me too. And that’s how I became MAY and since that May 9th I follow him every day, loving and supporting him. Two months later, I started with other MAY from my country our Park JiHoon Argentina Fanbase (on Twitter @ParkJihoonARG, Instagram @parkjihoonarg1) to support him. I’m only MAY ❤️. What are the reasons why you love your bias? Besides what I said before (his sincere and big love for us his fans, his talent and sweetness) the reasons why I love Park JiHoon are many, I could make a big list haha, but I will summarize it this way: First of all the person he is, his heart. He is someone humble, respectful and polite, with good manners. He is sincere, and you can notice that sincere love for MAY from the first day you discover him because he is always mentioning us, like a family member who is proud of his other family member ❤️ in fact, he mentioned at some point that we are like his family, and the reality is that. Park JiHoon and MAY we are one big family. Another reason why I love him is that he always works hard, he always gives his best in every project whether it’s music or acting. Artistically speaking, he is the king of facial expressions. He is so charming and unique 😍 his sweet honey voice, deep rap and excellent dancing make him a complete artist. In terms of acting he portrays his characters with excellence to the point that the directors and staff praise him, he is that good ❤️ He is handsome, naturally very very handsome the most handsome. Personally speaking, I like his mature mentality and that he always names his family and Max (his dog). Although he denies this fact, he is cute (haha) but he is also very manly, that duality makes him special and to sum it up, I love everything about him. Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans? A title track that I highly recommend listening to is ‘L.O.V.E’, the song from his album debut “O’CLOCK” (the first I listened from him as solo artist). As he said, he put his heart and love into this song. It’s a beautiful song that you can listen to at any time and season of the year. And the B-side track that I recommend is ‘All Yours’, from his latest album “Hot&Cold” is my favorite song, from the melody to the lyrics, to the meaning it has, the voice and the feeling that JiHoon put in this song, everything is beautiful. You won’t regret listening to it, trust me. Can you recommend a fancam, V-Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers? On JiHoon’s Youtube channel (PARK JIHOON Official) there is a lot of content, from practice dance to videos of his own series such as “Wink Arcade” and “WING-H!ND”. For starters, I recommend you watch ‘새벽달’ (Dawn Moon) dance practice (my favorite) and ‘Serious’ fancam on “Show!MusicCore” on 211030. Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics? “하루 종일 널 부를게 마음 들리니 내가 가진 모든 걸 함께 하고 싶어 이건 Love Letter 너를 위한 내 입술 한마디 말론 다 못해 내 진심 for you I’ll hold you oh forever 단숨에 널 안을 테니 쉼이 없는 내 하루가 너 있어 감사해 기억나 모든 하루하루가” English translation: “I’ll call you all day Can you hear me Everything I have I want to be together This is Love Letter My lips for you I can’t say a word My sincerity for you I’ll hold you oh forever I will hug you in a moment My day without rest Thank you I remember every day” ‘Still Love You’ lyrics fragments by Park JiHoon ❤️ This song is my other favorite too, the full lyrics are beautiful ❤️❤️❤️ Since Park JiHoon is also acting, can you recommend dramas starring him for new fans? Yes! You can watch his three dramas so far: “Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency”, “Love Revolution”, “At a Distance, Spring is Green” and wait for his 4th and upcoming action drama “Weak Hero”. Do you have an all-time favorite scene? Can you describe it or share a video? This is one of my favorite scenes 🥰. What genre do you want him to appear in? What’s the reason? Any genre of drama be it fiction, comedy, horror, I know he will do excellently. I would love to watch JiHoon in a drama or movie where he has to act as a villain, it’s a role he wants to do and I would love to see, I’m sure he will do great like all the roles he portrays. Are there any words from your bias you would like to share? As I said before, Park JiHoon has a very mature mind and is always saying wise things, one of the ones that marked and influenced me was “Turning crisis into opportunity”. What is your favorite bias’ influence on your daily life? (E.g.: Bring me constant happiness / push me to pursue my dreams / study Korean) Yes definitely all of those (he brings me constant happiness / push me to pursue my dreams / even study Korean). One of the key things he inspired me to do was to study one of my professions, Graphic Design. Although I have always done editing since I was a teenager, I had never formally studied it before. Seeing all the merch, flyers and other content they design of/for JiHoon inspired me to take the step to study, and finish it! And also, he inspires me to be better every day and never give up. What is your favorite side of fangirling? My favorite side of fangirling is sharing with MAY. As I mentioned before, MAY and JiHoon are one big family. MAY are my sisters, we not only support JiHoon, but also each other. You might be having a not so happy day or just want to vent and MAY are there to listen to you. I love when we hype JiHoon a lot in comeback times or we do multitasking haha it’s great to be able to share your same interest and love with others. Personally, I interact with many MAYs from different countries and in difficult times they have been there with warm words, the fandom even gave me friends.
