Notably, their English songs are often different from their Korean songs. While we are used to the fierce and more robust sounds of their Korean songs, with their English songs, their sound is more softer and cute, it has this preppy high school lovestruck vibe to it that sounds like the pop songs we would all increase the volume when it comes on the radio. This contrast speaks so much to their versatility as musical artists as they are clearly able to take on any genre, in any language, and still showcase their charms, originality, and talents in a way that we have all come to appreciate from them. While many (if not all) of their English songs are infectious and great, here are 6 songs we absolutely think you should have on your playlist.

1. ‘The Dreaming’

This balladesque song showed off MONSTA X in a light that many have not seen before. Showing off their versatile artistry, this song feels like something you would on the classic radio stations. Filled with so many emotions and a clear message, the beautiful intonations with the delivery of every word made the song even more emotional. While we are greatly impressed by all the members and their unique vocal sounds, one member that invariably stands out is JooHoney, whom we have seen display his budding vocal talents in songs prior to this, but on this song, we were completely sold by how good of a vocalist he really is, and his potential.

2. ‘Blame Me’

With a style that takes us back to the early 2010s, this song gives a very nostalgic vibe and sounds like something a group like One Direction would sing. Perhaps that is what makes it all the more special, the fact that MONSTA X can perform in any kind of genre and make it their own. The chorus is one of the best we have heard even from western artists and the beat drop at the beginning just builds up the exciting and refreshing feeling of the song. It is quintessential pop but in probably the best way.

3. ‘Secrets’

‘Secrets’ was a surprising but great addition to the “One Of A Kind” album. A clear contrast to the rest of the songs on the album, with its finger-snapping rhythm and jazzy vibes, the song sounds like something that could be performed at an oldies bar or nightclub and will have people on their feet slow dancing.

4. ‘One Day’

We all took a collective pause when we first heard this song for the first time as we were vividly impressed by how great this song is. It is not meant to be too heavy with the broadest lyrics or deepest message. It is simple and easy but in that form, it still holds so much power, is infectious, and completely addictive, with its sing-along style, we simply cannot help but tap the repeat button whenever this song comes on, as one cannot get tired of listening to it.

5. ‘About Last Night’

About last night, we fell in love with MONSTA X when we realized all the glory nights when we listen to their songs and feel alive. With a disco vibe, every element of this song made it sound so amazing. From the vocals, the instrumentals (the trumpets were an amazing infusion) to the hook that slowly transmits into this EDM club-sounding chorus, “well done” is the only word we can use to describe this song.

6. ‘Who Do You Love’ ft French Montana

Perhaps one of the best English songs they have released yet, and with various remixes which are all equally good and serve a purpose for every mood, however, none come close to the original that had many expressively shocked and excited. The release of this song came as a wonderful surprise to many who didn’t expect them to do this kind of music. As we said, however unique their style is, their English songs are always in contrast to their Korean songs and often show them in a different light that is still very impressive. With its catchy rhythm, heart-thumping bass, stunning vocal colors each member presented, and its clear message, every element of this song made it perfect and had many, including us, singing along on repeat.
