K-Dramas have often also shown many green-flagged male leads who make their partner feel safe and comfortable. But there is always something about the bad boys. K-Drama bad boys have a way to our hearts and we gush over them even if they are toxic! They may stress the female lead out, be stubborn and even betray her, yet we can’t help but fall when they show even a miniature size of kind gesture. Kpopmap brings over our top 3 picks for our readers. The list includes “Little Women”’s Choi DoIl (Wi HaJun), “Kill Me Heal Me”’s Shin SeGi (Ji Sung), “Nevertheless,"’s Park JaeEon (Song Kang). This article contains spoilers.
1. Choi DoIl From “Little Women”
It was hard to trust any character in “Little Women”. The drama was full of suspense and plot twists had us over the edge. “Little Women” told the story of three sisters who find themselves fighting against one of the most powerful families of South Korea. The eldest sister, Oh InJoo (Kim GoEun), was an outcast at her workplace. Soon she meets someone like her, the outcast of the 14th floor. The two grow close till one day HwaYoung (Choo JaHyun) was found dead. HwaYoung had embezzled 70 billion won from the company. She also left two billion cash for InJoo. InJoo meets DoIl (Wi HaJun) after HwaYoung’s death and the two strike a deal to get the 70 billion won. Now, trusting an expert money launderer is not the best thing to do, especially after he clearly stated that money was the only thing that mattered to him. Through the drama, fans were certain that he would back stab InJoo. Also, considering that InJoo was not someone good at reading, people and easily followed Choi DoIl’s plan. In an episode, DoIl was also given the command to kill InJoo. Despite all the red flags, fans could not help but gush over the couple. The fiery chemistry convinced the viewers to ship them. He won the fans hearts with how he protected InJoo even when she no longer had 70 billion won. He still protected her. In the final episode, he finally cleared his image before the viewers when he willingly got himself arrested so InJoo will be freed.
2. Shin SeGi From “Kill Me Heal Me”
“Kill Me Heal Me” is considered one of the best K-Dramas in the K-Drama history by the fans. So we could not miss including Shin SeGi. “Kill Me Heal Me” tells the story of Cha DoHyun (Ji Sung). A man who suffered from Dissociative Identity Disorder. He became affiliated with a psychiatrist, Oh RiJin (Hwang JungEum), who then began to treat him. One of his identities had the name Shin SeGi. It was also one of the most dominant and powerful personalities. Shin SeGi had core memories from DoHyun’s childhood. Shin SeGi is brutal and hard to approach. He often appeared when DoHyun was abused or angry. Oh RiJin was abused by DoHyun’s father but she, too, had forgotten about it. Shin SeGi recognized her even after years and he was willing to protect her at any cost. He was stubborn but always melted before RiJin- and so did the viewers. SeGi also had humor of his own with the way he would make a mess for DoHyun. Despite his attitude screaming red flag, the fans still adore him and mourned when he said farewell to RiJin.
3. Park JaeEon From “Nevertheless,”
Perhaps the most widely known red flag in the K-Drama world is Park JaeEon from “Nevertheless,”. Song Kang perfectly embodied the playboy character and, just like the female lead, NaBi (Han SoHee), the fans too were perplexed about whether to hate or love him. A red flag but too hard to resist. The main characters JaeEon and NaBi fall into a lustful relationship, but as time passes by, NaBi starts to wish for more. But that did not seem like the case for JaeEon. He was there to make her feel all sort of butterflies, but his actions never meant anything deep. Even after she leaves, his character does not drastically change. Instead, he was seen trying to peruse another girl. Soon after, he began to realize who NaBi really was to him and we see a certain amount of character development. Be it the bad guys or the good ones, K-Drama characters always have a way to the fans hearts. Which K-Drama character would you certify as a ‘red flag’?
